Came down in January headed south and spent the night. Fantastic friendly management, easy in and out, clean transient restroom and showers with a courtesy car. I would highly recommended this marina.

Great stop with great service and good location. There really isn’t more to add to the previous posts. They are truly that good.

This marina is well managed and an asset to the city.

5 Stars, Great Place to Stop
Date: 2016-10-23
Captain: WhalerDon, Cheboygan, MI (40)

We stayed here on our way to Joe Wheeler and on the way back. The marina was loaded with loopers and Kyle bent over backwards to fit us into the docks.

Great place to stop. You won’t be disappointed.

5 Stars, All Good at Florence Harbor
Date: 2016-10-16
Captain: George and Rachel, Beaufort, SC (90)

Kyle stayed after closing to help us get in and tie up. Very well protected. Deep entrance. Restaurant busy on a Wednesday night with local traffic. Previous reviews on Active Captain led us here and we’re so glad.

5 Stars, Outstanding Marina on the Tennessee
Date: 2016-09-27
Captain: WBDJr, Ocean Springs, MS (10)

Eva and Kyle really know how to take care of their customers. We came in to stay a few days, but had a family emergency and had to leave the boat on short notice and were gone a litttle over a month. They kept an eye on the boat, and gave us a great rate for the dockage. Really a great marina, good restuarant on site, easy use of the courtesy van and friendly tenants. Eva and Kyle really know about “Southern Hospitality”. We’ll be back everytime we are on the Tenn.Bill & Patty Dickerson “Conched Out Too”

4 Stars, Great Marina on the Tennessee
Date: 2016-09-23
Captain: Quiet, Newburgh In (303)

Florence Harbor Marina is a great marina with a good resturant and a courtesy car available. We liked it so much we extended our stay an extra day. Long transient dock is easy in and out.

5 Stars, Nice Stop
Date: 2016-09-19
Captain: Ed, Cindy ten Haaf+, Anna Maria Island (573)

We spent 8 days here Eva & her staff go all out to make sure your stay is comfortable. They are also attentive to the boats in the marina if things look “hinky” they check on it. A good place to leave your boat if you need to run home. A nice lay along dock, van for your use (locally) car rental close by, good resturant on site. Welcome center is located in the beautiful park behind the marina. Florence offers many good resturants in town. Loads of tours available check at the welcome center.

Good stop for supplies and good dockage., 2016-01-23
Captain: Larry Steidle, Blue Springs Marina (79)

Great service, good stopping point great restaurants close by and a courtesy car.

Nice town and marina, 2015-11-16
Captain: BClarke, Essex, CT (1675)

A lovely little town — which was doing a pumpkin drop when were there. Yes — a pumpkin drop. They raised three giant pumpkins one after the other on a cherry picker and then dropped them in the middle of main street — all to the cheering of hundreds of townsfolks. Very Americana! Town was nice — and marina was just fine with very friendly help who were delighted to welcome us. Easy in and out.

Nice place, has a transient van available, nice downtown, marina needs a cleaning, 2015-11-08
Captain: Tom B.., Findlay, OH (176)

This is a good stop. The employees are super helpful and couldn’t be nicer.

The transient floating docks along the parking lot are open to public fishing. No problems though.

The restaraunt is closed from Halloween through March 1st . We didn’t try it but didn’t think the kitchen floor would be any cleaner than the walkway behind the kitchen.

The ramp up to the parking lot is slippery when dry and dangerous when raining due to the coooking grease spilled and tracked up from the restaraunt as its being taken to the grease dumpster.

When dry, stick close to the edges of the ramp and use the hand rail!. When it’s wet, use the other walkway. The wood walkway from the ramp all the way to the marina office is thickly coated with the stuff.

Southern Hospitality , 2015-11-01
Captain: CaptBillyBob, Illinois (2401)

The marina owner Eva went beyond expectations by personally relaying us to a rental car facility at a nearby airport.
We hope to return during another cruise on the Tennessee River.

A pleasant extended stay!, 2015-10-30
Captain: Tom Fournier, St. Augustine, Florida (246)

Needed a break from the heat on the loop, was lucky to find a nice slip here for 2.5 months.
Some one nicest people here, never got to meet Eva but as she said it was my loss, and I agree! Spoke to her several times while I was home and she reassured me my boat was fine, and it was.
Truly a good value along with being secure from bad weather and undesirables.
I did not give it 5 because no showers or laundry, but do have a loaner vehicle.

A must stop!, 2015-10-25
Captain: Kevin McMullen, Green Cove Springs, FL (602)

As others have said Eva goes above and beyond taking care of boaters. We stayed 3 nights 10/10-10/12/15 and they did a fantastic job making room for all the loopers heading to Joe Wheeler. Restaurant on site was very nice but getting ready to close for the season so some things were limited. The town was a nice place to spend an afternoon.

first visit @ FHM, 2015-10-23
Captain: mark peppers, paris, tn (50)

the staff was great, the restuarant was good, try the club. clean, easy to use. enjoyed the city with the courtesy van

Best Ever! must stop here, 2015-10-21
Captain: Bob Skinner, Grand Haven MI (20)

Eva (the marina owner) goes above and beyond. I needed a hair cut so she call her salon and made an appointment for me and drove me there and we waited for me. Then we when shopping together. Fun fun girls day out.
What ever you need she will make it happen. She and all her people have a great friendly attitude. Down town is very nice, with great restaurants. And with the courtesy car you can get to Walmart or parts store, what ever you need. It’s a must stop on your way to Chattanooga.

Refuge from unbearable heat, 2015-06-27
Captain: jenny, charleston (761)

Eva was nice enough to accomodate our request for a covered slip to escape the brutal summer heat — 112 heat index. However quality of the marina has slipped a little since our stay here 3 years ago.

Wintering Onboard In Florence, AL, 2014-11-07
Captain: Bob Onboard ALLEZ, Green Cove Springs FL (1380)

We visited here by car a year ago looking for a place to winter onboard at the end of our 2nd year on the Great Loop and a place to spend the spring and summer. of 2015. No sense going to the Gulf for Hurricane Season. We selected Florence Harbor and signed up and Eva had our slip waiting for us. The area has alot to offer and will be a great base of operations for planned road trips while having ALLEZ! in a safe secure marina that we feel comfortable with. We have met friendly dock neighbors and feel right at home here. Eva’s News Letters keep us informed with what is going on. We look forward to being part of the
Florence Harbor Marina Family. Capt Helen and Chief Engr Bob

Eva just makes this place!, 2014-11-06
Captain: Cap Bill, Jacksonville, FL (270)

We spent a week here and loved every single day. In our 6+ years of full-time cruising, Eva is the FIRST person who’s ever said, “your spring line is cleated”. Wanted to jump off and hug her neck. They have a courtesy van and a one W/D available–no quarters required. Eva gave us a list of restaurants and she was rigiht on target. We had wonderful meals while there. Other long-term boaters there are very friendly. We even made friends with the people who’d come out to sit on the finger piers and fish. A great week! Don’t miss the Frank Lloyd Wright house while you’re there.

this is a good stop, 2014-10-23
Captain: KHut, Holland (270)

good stop for a small town. diesel was $4/gal, restruant at marina, courtesy car. only 1 shower tho. downtown is near by, an easy bike ride, good Italian restruant there. the local college mascot is a lion and the campus has a lion habitat with 2 live lions.

Excellent Marina, 2014-10-16
Captain: Richard Molony, Tarpon Springs (983)

Easy in and docking. Helpful staff. Good facilities and great (Mahi) food at the restaurant. Town access and amenities are good.

Good Stop, Nice Folks, Nice Area, 2014-08-17
Captain: Cord, Stuart (80)

Staff stayed late to help us in, restaurant had good food and friendly staff. Area very nice to visit. Will stop on return trip.

A Must Stop, 2014-06-16
Captain: Bert Zinkand MV Away Again, Punta Gorda FL (1679)

Florence is a must stop. This is a great little town with lots to do. North Alabama U is here, great downtown with lots of festivals, WC Hardy (father of the blues) home, Helen Keller’s home, and their version of the space needle. FYI their space needle is run by the Marriot (rated best in the US) and their restaurant is the 360. it has a 5 star rating and offers some of the best dining we have had in over a year. The 360 will pick you up and take you back to your boat.Other great eatery is Ricotoni’s. We originally were going to stay for two nights wound up staying a week. Marina staff is very helpfull and curitous.

WHAT A GREAT PLACE, 2014-04-04
Captain: R Shannon, Jamaica Beach, TX (180)

It was early March when we passed through on a Monday and the marina and the restaurant were closed. After a few phone calls, Eva the manager came down on her own time and turned on the gas pumps so we could fill up and while the restaurant was closed – the chief was there doing some paperwork and made us one of the finest shrimp, sausage, new potatos and corn on the cob steamed platters we have every had.

Everyone we met was friendly and out going and the facilities were clean and well maintained.

Transient Experience, 2013-11-02
Captain: Jim McQuade, Hilton Head, SC (65)

Easy access. Great for one or two night transient. Cordial help. Restaurant on premises, restroom clean, shower ok,
Courtesy car available

Florence Harbor Marina, 2013-10-23
Captain: Captain Looper, Deltaville, VA (602)

This marina needs some updating. Restrooms and showers for transients were acceptable. Restaurant on site but we did not eat there. The marina has a courtesy car and Florence, AL is a large town with ample shopping and dining opportunities.

Great marina manager, 2013-10-16
Captain: Gerald Wallace, Palm Beach Gardens, FL (1897)

Stopped here enroute to Joe Wheeler and was very pleased with the service and the restaurant. The manager Ava was super helpful and called the Wilson lock master and got 7 of us all locked through early the next morning. Will stay again on way back down the TN

Good marina, one problem, 2013-10-14
Captain: djbarkow, Racine, WI (360)

Great resturant/sports bar, Shuttle Car available several historic sites to visit. We were placed on Dock A rather than the transient dock and were invaded by ants. Several other boats experienced the same issue, thousands of ants crawling up the dock lines and electrical cables. I hope they can rectify this problem.

Very friendly and helpful staff, 2013-09-26
Captain: Jim and Belinda Wolfe, St. Petersburg (749)

We stopped here for a short mid-day stopover, and were very impressed with the marina manager who went out of her way to help us with getting to the hardware store and calling the Wilson lock to check their locking schedule.

FLorence Harbor Marina, 2013-09-18
Captain: Uncle Bobby, Lucys Branch (49)

Nice covered docks, plenty of over night slips, Standfields at the RIver has wonderful food.. there is a golf course, and bike trails..

A good choice for us …, 2013-09-16
Captain: Chris Hayes, Pinnacle, NC, USA (1340)

We neded a place to lay over for 4-6 weeks Iin order to get back to our tow vehicle, left at Island Cove Marina and thence home. We could have rented a car but opted to hire a local shuttle to drive us there. That worked as we were picked and delivered dockside but priced the same as a rental — all pre-arranged on the NET.

Eva’s help did not know where to put us when we arrived but a phone call or two took care of that. Our driver arrived and we were off.

MOONSHINE was found six weeks later just as we had left her , plus a few cobwebs and nothing disturbed — despite direct public access as the gates to the piers are not locked. We paid for two months rent and received a sponsor’s ticket good for one year’s membership in the AGLCA. Our car was left in the City’s parking lot for the 3 weeks needed for us to make it to Mobile.

couldn’t be more friendly, 2013-07-08
Captain: D.Carter, Woodbridge, Va (126)

I came in on 7/3/14 Miss Eva found a spot for me for the weekend and couldn’t have tried any harder to make us feel at home. The van was a great help.

Very helpful, 2012-11-15
Captain: Hinnerk, Hamburg,GER (310)

Very helpful and friendly suff. Stayed about two weeks here as Florence was perfectly placed for land explorations between Nashville, Atlanta and Memphis. The stuff uses the late season for some required renovations including the restaurant wich will reopen next season. Restrooms and the shower are generally “NOT” locked, as others have noticed. Maybe it was due to renovation process. Only the laundry room is locked at night. Convinient curtesie car for shopping (less than 10 min to all kinds of stores from special things to walmart) within Florence an Muscle Shoals (2h limit)

Florence Harbor, 2012-11-11
Captain: Joe Wilson, Wilsonville, AL (474)

Fine for overnight stop. 50 amp service on fuel dock. Restrooms locked at night. Restaurant closed. If you only want a place to tie up for the night it is okay.

Could be better, 2012-11-06
Captain: Ready123, Toronto (56)

Laundry does not agitate. CLOSED on Mondays so it is self serve check in. Couldn’t find the shower and the restaurant has closed and new one is renovating.
Personally I would find somewhere else if one needs the extra services…. if only a slip is your need then it is 4 star.

florence marina, 2012-10-07
Captain: 0REGRETS, Grand Rivers, KY (63)

would be bettr but visiting restrooms had no pape products of any variety.
Transient area is good but work on restrooms.

Florence Marina, 2012-08-17
Captain: Frank Nold, Vero Beach, FL (654)

Not much of a marina, although Eva%u2019s a hoot every marina should have a manager that likes their job the way she does. We will most likely come back someday. Nice van and close to shopping. There is some hiway noise since the major hiway runs right over the marina, but you get use to it.
Captain Frank

Gotta love this marina!, 2012-07-21
Captain: Ron Andrews, Mesa AZ (1609)

So hard to leave this town (great shopping & eating). To top it off, Eva just does everything to make the transient welcome. Restaurant on site has good bar food & entertainment. Nice city park next to marina. Transient dock is secure.

Excellent small town marina, 2012-07-10
Captain: Bensdad, Kemah, Texas (235)

Very clean facilities, wi-fi, fuel, diesel, courtesy car, showers, laundry and very friendly and helpful staff.

We planned to stop to refuel and were running a little late because we got behind a towboat at Wilson Lock. We called them to tell about our delay that would put our arrival past their normal closing time and were told, “Not a problem. We’ll wait for you!” What great customer service!

Great stop, 2011-12-10
Captain: Jonnie Walker, Earth (561)

This was a great place to stop…Florence was a neat town, the marina was friendly, and there is a park right there that was great for walking. Also they had wonderfull porch swings everywhere!

This is also the only place that they charged us less because we don’t plug into electric, we have solar panels. they charged us .50/ft less because of that.

We had a great time here, 2011-12-08
Captain: Captain Larr, Channel Islands, California (1149)

The folks at this marina are super cool. They were nothing but helpful. The courtesy car was broken down for the first few hours we were there and the staff gave us a ride to the post office before it closed. There is a terrific restaurant/bar upstairs with great live music. We had too much fun. Florence is an exceptional town that is very “sticky” meaning that it is easy to want to stay and stay and stay.

Laundry Option, 2011-11-11
Captain: Doc Ford, St. Augustine, FL (4015)

The marina washer/dryer leaves a lot to be desired. However, near the shopping/mall area is Rain or Shine Laundromat, clean, new machines, full-time staff. You can drop off your laundry and they will wash it. With the courtesy car, this is a good option. Agree with other posts on friendly, helpful staff and nice docks.

Near Wilson Lock, right off the Tenn River, 2011-11-08
Captain: bobandlynda, Mystic, CT (376)

Eva is extremely helpful and goes out of her way to accomodate cruisers at the dock, office, and restaurant (excellent pizza!). A courtesy car is available on a first come basis, but a sign-up sheet is provided. Make sure you leave your boat card on the cruiser’s map! There is a city park adjacent to the marina that provides an excellent opportunity for walking, running, biking, etc. A great area for shopping and sightseeing (Helen Keller’s home, Coon Dog Cemetery nearby).

Friendly Stop, 2011-10-29
Captain: John Leatherman, Mackinaw City (10)

Harbormaster Eva does an outstanding job running the marina, this is the best marina that we have stayed on the loop. She goes out of her way to take care of boaters.

friendly service, 2011-10-28
Captain: ajens, Brookings (308)

Great service at the dock and on the phone. Friendly staff in the bar/restaurant. Entertainment

Excellent marina with friendly staff, 2011-10-23
Captain: Bill Russell, Wickford, RI (1594)

This marina has undergone a lot of improvements in the last five years. The staff go out of their way to accomodate cruisers at the dock, office, and restaurant. Many new slips have been added, a courtesy car is available, and an interesting map display of where the cruisers come from helps to make one’s stay here more pleasant. There is a well maintained city park adjacent to the marina that offers a good location for walking, running, biking, ball playing, etc. A good area for shopping and sightseeing.

Great place to stop over, 2011-10-21
Captain: At Last, Bayfield, Ontario (70)

Just spent 10 days here and left for a week to return home to Canada. Excellent marina, Eva is really friendly, and price was very reasonable. Courtesy car available with lots of shopping in Florence. Enterprise rental car will also pick you up if you need to go further afield. Restaurant on site is basic bar food but lots of character. Pizza is awesome ! Only one transient washroom / shower and washer/dryer but this worked out just fine for us.

Just the right distance, 2011-10-14
Captain: Marc Colby, Austin, Texas (1774)

As you move up the Lake from Pickwick Dam, Florence is an easy stop for the night, in an area that does not have many good choices for an anchorage. Off the river and out of the current, this marina is well protected, very reasonably priced, and has a friendly staff. Good place to tie up for the night.

Friendliest Host!, 2011-10-05
Captain: Ray and Linda, Murphy, NC (10)

Florence Harbor is always a great place to stop. Eva is always cheerful, friendly, humorous, and helpful whether you are just stopping for fuel, in which she tries to keep her prices below competitors and has no ethenol, or spending the night. Eva will do anything she can to accomodate you. It’s nice when she remembers you too, even if you only stop once or twice a year.

A nice friendly stop!, 2011-09-09
Captain: Captain Dave R, Bonita Springs, FL (411)

We will retrun to the FLorence Harbor Marina. We really appreciatred the helpful friendly staff. THis marina is run by Tom & Eva and they could not have been more helpful. No wakes, floating dock and a loaner van, what more could you ask for?

The Barge Inn restaurant above the dock office had a limitied menu but was great. The BBQ wings were dry rub and we had them two nights in a row! The speggetti & meatballs for $3.95 was very good, especially the garlic bread. Good service!

It would be a 5 star if they had a pool, but because of changing water levels, a pool is not available. But a great place to spend a few days.

Excellent Service, 2011-08-12
Captain: lesrohlf, Maryland Heights, MO (314)

We stopped for a couple days early in the season (late April). Restaurant not yet open for season, but staff was very helpful providing us with everything else we needed. Reasonable cost, good location close to downtown Florence, nice park next door.

Good Marina, 2011-06-10
Captain: Henry the Navigator, North Palm Beach, FL (539)

Good floating dock with power, good wifi, and water for $1.00 per foot per night. Older courtesy van, but functional. College town. Interesting downtown area. Happened to be there during 150 boat bass fishing tournament. Interesting, but they played the Star Spangled Banner one morning at first light! But all those fast boats were interesting. Nice people. Got needed Caterpillar part from dealer in nearby town.

Captain: Sterling, Key Largo (5304)

Stayed for 9 days, the first seven were on a weekly rate, then the last 2 went back to the daily rate.
Pretty cheap of the marina I felt.
The people who were running the resturant were great! Unfortunatly, it closed saturday.

Captain: Cruising Family of Four, Knoxville, TN (1788)

This marina was a very nice stop along the way. The staff and boaters were very courteous and helped us get docked and settled. There is a nice park with a playground and plenty of places to walk your dog. The resaurant is right next to the transient slip and was very good, simple food. We would definitely stop here again.

Convenient Marina, 2007-01-28
Captain: MV istaboa-Memphis, Jupiter, FL (1236)

Florence Harbor is a nice little marina that is very convenient when cruising the Tennessee River. About a mile downstream from Wilson Lock (which can take forever to get through) they have nice transient slips and a small pub. Diesel and Gas. No Service.
